Rock Candy

Over the first few weeks of school room 14 has been growing rock candy, it has been super fun waiting for them to start growing, but it is hasn't started growing and we found out that we put in the liquid while it was still warm and it melted the sugar on the skewer which means the liquid when its cool enough won't stick to the skewer(or the sugar on the skewer) and Briar and Levi made up some new liquid which hopefully will work!!!!!!!

This term room 14 also learnt about the treaty of Waitangi ie:
When was it signed: February 6 1840
Who signed it first it: Hone Heke
How many people signed it: over 500 Maori chiefs
And under the influence of the real treaty room 14 decided to make our own treaty and we all signed it with ink on a sharpened twig

Science fact from fun science

Did you know that a human body is about 60% water. Babies when first born are as much as 80%water. This changes throughout our lives, lucky for us as a tomato is about 90 %.

Wow we are just getting started

Room 14 is just getting started with some exciting learning. We have explored some creative writing tasks to explore our amazing thinking about words and meanings.

Here are some 6 word stories. The mission is to create a story using only 6 words. Perhaps the most famous was Hemingway's;
School shoes, brand new, never worn.

How about ours?
Lloyd: Thought lots, designed lots, built more.
Grace: Fight the fight, shoot the runner.
Nathan: Liked the pizza, not the dough.
Krishn: Chocolate cake, looks good, tastes yuck.

Think about these, do they tell you a story?
